Basic difference between ADF & VOR

Many students are still confused that what is the basic difference between ADF & VOR except their frequency range...........here it is
When we compare the VOR with ADF always remember that the ADF simply points to the station & does not relate to any location on the ground. as we cannot look on a map and translate our ADF indication into a position. With the VOR we can ,from our omni reading draw a line on our map from the station and know that we are somewhere on the line. This is an advantage over ADF.
So VOR system tell us where we are radially ,relative to the  VOR station. Indication of VOR station is independent of the aircraft heading, in compare to ADF indication, which changes with the heading,as the ADF points to the station .......So VOR tells us where we are and the indication is thus independent of the aircraft heading as long as our location does not change.......
